Lazy Thanksgiving Feast and a Recipe for Twinkie Hoarders
Doesn’t this just look like a beautiful family dinner for Thanksgiving?
Yup I thought so too so I ordered one from Bob Evans so that Thursday instead of cooking all day long, all I’ll have to do is heat stuff up for a few hours! Score one for sitting on the couch and watching TV with the girly.
Along with all the warming and waiting I’m also planning on making some fun crafts with the girly (of course all she wants to do is make My Little Pony Crafts and not Thanksgiving crafts though…) and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in my pjs!
I was also looking forward to making my favorite dessert this year again but alas, the Twinkie may have gone the way of the dinosaur.
In the hopes that maybe you have some hoarder or prepper friends out there who have the last of the Twinkies at their disposal, here’s my favorite fall time/Thanksgiving dessert, the Twinkie Pumpkin Dessert. (I’m still holding out that someone is going to buy the Twinkie rights and make the world ready for the Apocalypse once more though.)
Ingredients:
- 1 package (15 ounces) Hostess® Twinkies® (10 Twinkies)
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 container (8 ounces) frozen nondairy whipped topping, thawed, divided
- 2 packages (3.4 ounces each) instant vanilla pudding
- 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- 1 cup milk
- Additional pumpkin pie spice
Directions:
Slice Twinkies in half lengthwise and place cream-side up, in single layer in 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
Using a mixer, blend together cream cheese, powdered sugar and 1/2 of whipped topping until smooth.
Spread evenly over Twinkies.
Combine pudding mix, pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice and milk.
Whisk until well blended and layer over cream cheese mixture.
Carefully spread remaining whipped topping over pumpkin.
Lightly sprinkle with pumpkin pie spice.
Refrigerate several hours or until set.
Random Note: In the past I had been just going to the Hostess site and getting the instructions each year but when I tried to do that just now it showed me the “Closed for business suckers! Get your snacky cakes somewhere else” message. Thankfully Google is still my friend and I found the instructions over at Food.com as well as number of other sites!

That looks delicious. I’m going to save this recipe and do it sometime when I’ve got some time
Let’s hope the Twinkie stays alive long enough! hehe
I am sort of jealous, I have to cook dinner for my giant family. The twinkie dessert looks like it would make an awesome pumpkin tiramisu! I love tiramisu.
Ooo pumpkin tiramisu! Yes please!! Oh and I secretly love cooking big meals but the stress of cooking ALL day for my family just about killed me the last time I did it. You will have a wonderful time and just remember to start drinking early – it really helps…
hehe
The Twinkie Pumpkin Dessert looks delicious. So sad. All the shelves have been wiped clean of twinkies and all other hostess products.
I know right? I’m really hoping an awesome company comes in and saves the poor Twinkies otherwise we’ll have to go to Canada for cheap pharmaceutics AND Twinkies! hehe
Yummers! The Twinkie will live on in Canada! Saputo owns the Twinkie in Canada and manufacturing will continue. Maybe we can work out an exchange program…I’ll send you Twinkies if you send me Vanilla Coke. (Canada doesn’t have Vanilla Coke…sadness in my home and native land). *grin*
Hope you’re having a fab Thanksgiving!
I’m not a Twinkie fan but this recipe looks delish! stopping by from Mama Kat’s.
I’m not a huge Twinkie fan either but the cream cheese and the toppings really tone down the Twinkieness… Lol Thanks so much for stopping by!
I am a Twinkies fan and YUM! This looks so good!
I know right?! It totally tastes as good as you think it does too!
